GI Search instructions

Basic search

For a basic search, you can simply type the name of the food or drink that you are looking for and click on the Search button or Enter on your keyboard. 

   

Advanced search

For an advanced search, please enter more detailed information in the following boxes (all except Food Name are optional):

Food Name – enter the name of the food or drink that you are looking for 

Category – enter the food group or category that the named food or drink is in. For example, if you are looking at milk alternatives based on soy, type “beverage” into Category (and if you haven’t already, soy into “Food Name”) 

Country – enter the name of the Country where the food or beverage is grown or made

GI – if you are looking for varieties within a certain GI range (e.g., low GI varieties only), enter the GI value in the “GI” box (e.g., 56) and click on the “Filter” drop down box immediately below it and choose an option (e.g., “Less Than”)

Serving Size (g) – if you are looking for varieties within a certain size range (e.g., cups of milk or alternatives), enter the size of the food or drink in the “Serving Size (g)” box (e.g., 250) and click on the “Filter” drop down box immediately below it and choose an option (e.g., “Less Than”)

Carbs Per Serve (g) – if you are looking for varieties with a certain amount of available carbohydrate (e.g., less than 30 g per serve), enter the amount of carbohydrate you would like in the food or drink in the “Carbs Per Serve (g)” box (e.g., 30) and click on the “Filter” drop down box immediately below it and choose an option (e.g., “Less Than”)

GL – if you are looking for varieties within a particular glycemic load (GL) range (e.g., less than 10 per serve), enter the GL you would like in the food or drink in the “GL” box (e.g., 10) and click on the “Filter” drop down box immediately below it and choose an option (e.g., “Less Than”)
